Job Description

The Marketing Associate is a dedicated storyteller who will act as a thought partner to build Uncommon’s brand online and create compelling content to drive online audience growth across our social media and email channels! This person will have a passion to write and create marketing and campaign ideas, build and implement content strategies, and push to elevate Uncommon’s digital channels, including its regional brands, to elevate the organization’s mission and build brand awareness online. The position reports to the Sr. Communications Manager.

Responsibilities:

Social Media

  • Manage all day-to-day aspects of Uncommon Schools network social media presence across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Handshake, Glassdoor, and Indeed) including producing and publishing content and content calendar.
  • Support Sr. Communications Manager to build annual and ongoing content strategies.
  • Support, build and roll out technical standard methodologies, processes, and guidelines that improve engagement across the network and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Analyze and supervise engagement data and use findings to drive and advise new content and growth strategies for platforms.
  • Serve as the social media consultant and work with regional social media reps to support and advise best practices and approaches.

Website

  • Drive and support website content, ensuring both written and visual content is fresh, engaging, and accurate across both Uncommon Schools’ centralized page as well as our region school-specific pages.
  • Manage website agency relationships and partner for any changes or updates which require coding, troubleshooting, or more extensive work.
  • Create and implement an ongoing SEO plan supporting functional collaborators and network priorities.

External & Internal Emails

  • Support the start-to-finish process of developing marketing emails for network and regional stakeholders including content, production, and analytics.
  • Plan, develop and execute external-facing flagship newsletter including schedule, collaborator involvement, project management, and content building.
  • Manage the network email platform along with its organization, list management, processes, and guidance for relevant partners.

Content Creation

  • Collaborate with team and network partners to brainstorm, draft and deliver assigned communications and messaging that brings Uncommon's mission to life across digital and printed materials.
  • Collect, curate, and create videos for marketing efforts including editing and producing short videos, managing assets, and working with partners for key projects.
  • Collect and curate photography including taking photographs during on-site visits, managing assets, and working with partners to solicit up-to-date visual assets.
  • Plan and produce video and photography assets that bring together Uncommon’s many voices, and support key objectives, including staff recruitment, student enrollment, and overall brand messaging;

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years prior work experience in communications, social media, and/or brand arenas.
  • Exceptional writing skills: Ability to use and define a brand voice, ability to tell human-interest and engaging stories, excellent editing and proofreading abilities.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and management tools (Ex: SproutSocial, Later).
  • Experience managing or working heavily with social media for an organization.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (Ex: Wordpress).
  • Familiarity with email marketing and customer communications platforms (Ex: Mailchimp, Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with video editing, or willingness to learn basic video editing.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, and able to independently prioritize shifting workloads in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment.
