Job Description

The Senior Manager of Enrollment will serve as the leader and manager of student recruitment and enrollment for our Brooklyn region. They will advise on marketing efforts, drive outreach strategy, own lottery & enrollment systems, and support persistence initiatives that all lead to meeting and exceeding enrollment goals. They will report to the Director of Enrollment at the Home Office, providing recommendations on overall strategy, and will work closely with school and regional leaders in New York City and members of teams in other Uncommon regions.

Primary Responsibilities

Student Recruitment and Enrollment

  • Build, lead, and update the regional student recruitment and enrollment strategy based on analysis of demographics, application & enrollment data, and community needs

  • Manage efforts in the region and ensure all owners including home office, regional, and school staff complete relevant responsibilities

  • Advise on marketing and media efforts in support of recruitment, working with regional team members and Marketing to optimize strategy

  • Manage student lottery and enrollment systems, including training and managing staff to complete lottery and waitlist processes

  • Liaise with NYC Charter Center and other local partners

  • Drive all communication and training to regional and school teams in support of student recruitment and enrollment

  • Report to home office, regional, and school teams on enrollment progress

Student Persistence

  • Recommend data-driven strategies and support initiatives to improve student persistence

  • Support regional leaders in grade span transition initiatives

Team Management

  • Manage 1 Manager and 1 Associate Manager, each of which leads a cohort of 6 Enrollment Coordinators with portfolios of 1-2 schools

  • Support all Brooklyn Enrollment Staff through team meetings, individual check-ins, goal setting, professional development & training, progress monitoring, and coaching

  • Hire and lead temporary staff to support enrollment initiatives

Budget

  • Develop and manage the regional student recruitment team budget

Additional duties and projects as needed and assigned in support of New York schools

Qualifications

  • Has 6+ years professional experience in recruitment, sales or operations work.

  • Has a proven track record for strategy development and implementation.

  • Is a seasoned manager who enjoys leading teams to grow and be successful.

  • Has excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Understands the importance of data management and is highly organized.

  • Enjoys collaborating with others to problem-solve and find sustainable solutions.

  • Loves multitasking and can lead multiple ongoing projects with ease.

  • Enjoys learning new skills and software applications.

  • Is a strong communicator.

  • Enjoys learning through experience and feedback, taking initiative to make improvements or solve problems, and can learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
