Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing all processes related to data requests at Uncommon’s Central Office. The person in this role will manage the Data Analytics instance of Zendesk which includes serving as the queue manager for requests received, ensuring that all team members are trained on the use of the system, managing improvements to the system in service of the data requests process, and overseeing the continued development of the Knowledge Base as a source of self-service for needed data. In addition, this role will maintain ongoing relationships and regular touchpoints with teams that request high volumes of external reporting, especially the Development team. They will be responsible for managing documentation around data requests and fulfilling the majority of requests received that are not high stakes or require significant specialized knowledge. Finally, this role will also support the team’s core data reporting & analysis work as a contributor and project team member.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Requests

  • Manage the Data Analytics team’s instance of Zendesk by managing the queue of incoming requests, liaising with the IT overall Zendesk lead, training DA team members on the use of Zendesk, and making upgrades/improvements as needed;
  • Fulfill, document, and track data requests from stakeholders across Uncommon for use with both internal and external audiences;
  • Oversee and maintain the team’s online knowledge base/guide for data requests by pushing updates to articles once available and developing new content based on monitoring of data request needs;
  • Partner with teams that provide a high volume of recurring requests (e.g., Development) to identify upcoming needs and plan for reports coming due;
  • Regularly review data generated through Zendesk about requests to suggest changes and improvements to the process.

Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Aid in the design, improvement, and generation of reports and presentations for stakeholders at all levels to provide core statistics and insights related to student and school performance;
  • Quality check, clean, manipulate, and merge data in preparation for reporting and analyses;
  • Assist in conducting analyses requested by leadership and Home Office teams;
  • Automate and document existing reports and analyses with a focus on replicability and quality control.

Team Support

  • Own the scheduling of recurring team meetings, including booking space when team returns to work in person.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong skills around manipulating and cleaning data either in spreadsheets or through a coding language
  • Can compile, analyze and derive insights from datasets

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in R or Python coding languages
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Experience using Zendesk
  • Proficient in Tableau
  • Intermediate to advanced coursework in statistics
