Job Description

Curricular Program

  • Participate in supporting schools with the implementation of research-based differentiated reading curricula curated by Uncommon schools.
  • Create resources that easily connect assessment and instruction materials for teachers to internalize, including but not limited to small group scripted reading lesson plans and assessment scripts. 
  • Support individual school campuses with leveraging intervention blocks to best support all students and best leverage all teacher skills. 

Assessment and Data

  • Collect and analyze student reading data to help leaders and teachers make the best decisions on how to support student learning.
  • Analyze student work to identify both student and teacher areas of support.
  • Track progress of training for each teacher on caseload.
  • Make programmatic decisions based on opportunities presented in the data, and inspire others to meet change needs.

Coaching and Development

  • Model exemplary small group guided reading instruction.
  • Design, internalize, and facilitate training for large groups of teachers.
  • Track training progress as it presents itself to student work.
  • Observe and provide one on one coaching for teaching case load.
  • Review teaching videos to identify trends for support.
  • Provide regular professional development opportunities for groups of teachers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education.
  • At least two years of experience as effective reading teacher.
  • At least one year of experience as teacher coach.
  • Proven track record with using data to change outcomes.
  • Superior engagement, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to create and sustain learning partnerships with adults and students.
  • Experience working in urban setting preferred.
