Job Title: (Senior) Associate Director, Data Reporting and School Support

About the Role

The Associate Director of Data Reporting and School Support (AD)is a key member of the Boston School Support Team. The AD is primarily responsible for leading and stewarding student and teacher data in service of state, federal and local reporting and compliance! The AD is also responsible for a number of other critical work streams directly in support of schools and the region, including teacher certification, billing and enrollment, emergency preparedness, and operational support for testing and assessments. The position is on the Boston regional operations team, and will report to the Boston Director of School Support.


  • Data reporting and analysis:
    • Management of local, state and other external compliance and data reporting, including:
      • Working with local, Massachusetts, federal, and other systems to report student data. Including but not limited to: SIMS, EPIMS, SSDR, SCS, and the Federal Civil Rights Data system.
      • Running data collection and reporting for Charter Renewal.
      • Working closely with school operations teams to handle timelines for data submission to ensure collection, preparation, accuracy, and validation; 
      • Maintaining a working knowledge of current reporting requirements
    • Management of internal data processes in collaboration with Uncommon’s central data management team and Curriculum and Assessment team, including:
      • Management of online tools used to track student data, including coordination with vendors;
      • Ensuring school data accuracy by conducting data audits in coordination with central data team and coordinating with schools, regions, and home office teams to improve systems supporting data accuracy;
      • Defining and detailing data collection processes; 
      • Responding to requests for data for analysis purposes.
    • Various projects involving data integrity and systems for both individual schools and the collective region;
    • Data analysis projects, as assigned by the Boston Associate Chief Operating Officer and Director of School Support;
  • School Support:
    • Teacher certification
      • Lead all regional projects related to teacher certification, including serving as a resource to school ops teams regarding certification pathways
      • Maintain teacher certification records as needed in service of compliance as well as meeting certification goals
    • Financial Compliance
      • Handle and coordinate all billing pertaining to student enrollment, liaising with HO accounting teams
      • Monitor student enrollment and record compliance documentation and handle student transfers
      • Managing all contracts for operations items (e.g., photocopy leases, uniforms, office supplies), including vendor selection, contract bidding, and documenting regional and school-specific contracts
    • Operational Support for Assessments and Testing:
      • Provide coordinating and logistical support for state and federal testing, including exam coordination (e.g., coordinating with district for state/national exam requirements, logistics, and distributions) and scoring (e.g., leading state/national exam scoring planning and logistics); support regional implementation of testing initiatives with the goal of optimization.
      • Coordinate with internal Curriculum and Assessment team to customize testing logistics and schedules to Boston’s needs
    • Regional operations document management
      • Managing the regional operations shared drive/google drive resources for school-based operations teams
      • Ensure all regional ops materials are appropriately detailed, maintained, and made accessible to appropriate audiences
    • Emergency Prep: Leading school and regional implementation of emergency preparedness projects in adherence with Uncommon-wide protocols as well as state and local requirements
  • Student Enrollment: May support student recruitment and enrollment efforts at key times throughout the year such as immediately pre- and post-lottery
  • Regional Office management: run regional office day to day including technology and general office management
  • Additional duties and projects as needed and assigned in support of Boston schools


  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • At least three years of work experience;
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel;
  • Familiarity with PowerSchool or other student data management systems preferred;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills;
  • Strong customer service approach and communication skills;
  • Familiarity with local and State Data Platforms preferred;
