Job Description

The Senior Recruitment Manager, Brooklyn is responsible for recruitment and selection of all teachers, school-based operations, and non-instructional staff for Uncommon Schools’ largest region. This role directly manages a team of three Selection Recruiters and works closely with Brooklyn’s Outreach Recruiter and the region’s Assistant Superintendents and Associate Chief Operating Officers to ensure that all of our schools are fully staffed with high quality talent.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cares deeply about and can articulate a detailed understanding of Uncommon Schools
  • Builds strong processes for the Brooklyn Recruitment Team to assess all candidates from application review to hire, keeping in mind both candidate and leader experience.
  • Develops positive relationships with Uncommon Schools’ Instructional and Operational Leaders.
  • Builds a strong team culture: Holds their team accountable to high performance expectations, ensures the growth and development of all direct reports, and maintains a caring and inclusive team culture.
  • Ensures accurate data in all of our recruitment systems; analyzes data to identify and address trends in real time; and makes changes to selection or outreach strategies as needed.
  • Manages external relationships with key recruitment partners and teacher placement agencies
  • Contributes to the culture, strategies, processes, and systems of all Uncommon Schools Recruiters as a member of the Recruitment Leadership Team.

  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through; a high sense of urgency
  • Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills particularly when communicating with senior leaders
  • Strong people management skills with a track record of developing others
  • Ability to develop systems that achieve efficiency and scalability
  • Ability to learn quickly and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic, ambitious environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required
