Job Description

The Regional Director of Special Projects (DSP) supports the Associate Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) and plays a central role in ensuring there are effective and orderly school systems across the network. In addition to maintaining the school’s administrative systems and routines, the Regional Director of Special Projects must have strong organizational stills and must be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, families, vendors, and visitors. The position serves the Uncommon region of Boston as a member of the Boston Network team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing regional compliance requirements and reporting processes
  • Managing logistics for large-scale projects and events for the network and using project plans to manage logistics
  • Directing student recruitment efforts by building and executing recruitment and enrollment project plans and systems to achieve full enrollment at all schools.
  • Responding to family inquiries during the admissions and lottery process
  • Representing the school at prospective student open houses and other student recruitment events
  • Communicating with community partners and potential families during the student recruitment process
  • Managing positive and effective working relationships with all regional vendors
  • Coordinating the collection and maintenance of accurate student, staff, discipline, and school information
  • Directing all regular state and federal data reporting processes and submissions
  • Overseeing student nutrition (breakfast and lunch) programs
  • Compiling the Annual Report and other reports on behalf of the region
  • Coordinating with Regional leaders, various Uncommon Schools Home Office teams, and state charter authorizer
  • Managing state testing project plans to support computer-based testing at the schools
  • Serving as the schools’ Homeless Liaison
  • Serving as the schools’ Public Records Officer
  • Proactively identifying and taking on new initiatives to improve systems and processes
  •  Meeting deadlines for reports, projects, and other tasks
  • Managing other special projects, as assigned by the ACOO

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • At least four years of work experience;
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, and strong attention to detail;
  • Positive and collaborative mindset,
  • Strong customer service approach;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred
