Job Description

 

The Director of Special Projects will:

  • Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds, characters, and lives of students both in and out of schools;
  • Implement and enhance the network’s systems and culture;
  • Maintain the network’s administrative systems and routines;
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues;
  • Commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in meetings
  • Share responsibility for network-wide activities;
  • Develop the strategy and implementation plan for network-wide projects;
  • Assist with student recruitment;
  • Create slideshow presentations for staff retreats, and/or the school board, or community members;
  • Collect school performance data and create data presentations;
  • Write/edit letters, promotional materials (e.g., brochures, newsletters), website content, etc.;
  • Organize staff events and preparing materials for staff workshops/trainings;
  • Work with the network Leadership Team to ensure that all government and authorizer grant proposals and reports are completed on time

Qualifications

 

  • Willingness to do whatever it takes to create and maintain an orderly, effective network organization;
  • Detailed-oriented, strong follow-through skills;
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and work independently;
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
  • Demonstrated flexibility, maturity and ability to juggle competing priorities;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues and community members;
  • Interest in performing a critical support role and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, results-oriented environment;
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures;
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities; relentless commitment to mission of educating urban students;
  • Bachelor’s degree required; and
  • Teaching experience strongly preferred
