Job Description
The Regional Credit & Collections Manager, Latin America will define and execute the credit-granting strategy, accounts receivable portfolio governance, and collections agenda for Mexico, Chile, and Peru. The role’s primary objective is to enable sustainable revenue growth while minimizing credit risk and improving cash flow through disciplined credit decisions, effective collections, and commercially sound payment-plan negotiations, always in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Based in Mexico City, this position leads and guides the region Credit & Collections Management (CCM) teams and serves as a strategic partner to Sales, Finance, Legal, and Tax.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Own and implement the credit-granting strategy and policy for Mexico, Chile and Peru.
- Manage credit risk across the regional customer portfolio.
- Define, review and manage customer credit lines.
- Analyze and interpret customer financial statements to support credit decisions.
- Manage the accounts receivable portfolio and provide timely regional reporting.
- Define and execute collection strategies for the region.
- Monitor and report DSO performance and lead actions to reduce DSO.
- Negotiate payment plans with customers, including difficult or complex cases.
- Prepare reserve proposals in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
- Act as a business partner to Sales, balancing revenue opportunities with credit risk and collection priorities.
- Ensure legal and tax compliance throughout the order-to-cash process.
- Manage and guide the Credit & Collections teams in the region.
- Travel within the region to collaborate with CCM and Sales teams and conduct on-site customer visits.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strategic vision and the ability to balance revenue growth, credit risk and cash-flow objectives.
- Strong understanding of the Latin American macroeconomic environment and its impact on credit decisions and collection strategies.
- Strong negotiation skills when dealing with difficult or complex customers.
- Adaptability to cultural differences across Latin American markets.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong delegation and prioritization skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in Credit & Collections Management within multinational companies.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Latin America regional role.
- Experience in the construction or EPC sector is preferred.
- Proficiency in SAP and strong command of other reporting tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of IFRS.
- Fluency in Spanish and advanced English required; ability to operate effectively in an international matrix environment.
