Job Description

The Procurement & Quality Engineer –based in Navi Mumbai India, is supports procurement execution and supplier-quality activities for the Indian supply base. The role acts as a key interface between suppliers and stakeholders in Doka India, ensuring alignment with procurement strategy, engineering requirements, and manufacturing needs.

Direct reporting to the Procurement Manager – India, this position contributes directly to efficient Procurement operational execution, supplier quality execution and sustainable Procurement operational performance.

For guidance on supplier quality matters, this role functionally reports to Sr Manager Supplier Quality MEA EAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Support supplier identification, RFQ preparation, quotation comparison, and commercial and technical clarifications under the direction of the Procurement Manager.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding documentation, approved-supplier records, purchase-order information, and related procurement-system updates.
  • Prepare Purchase orders, Track open orders, production progress, and delivery commitments; identify deviations early and escalate them to the responsible buyer or manager.
  • Monitor supplier capability, production capacity, workload, lead time, and delivery risks; provide factual information and support agreed mitigation actions.
  • Maintain constructive day-to-day supplier relationships and promptly escalate commercial, delivery, quality, or compliance concerns.
  • Support Strategic Procurement, Category Management, and Supplier Quality in assigned supplier-development activities covering quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and sustainability.
  • Support the implementation and consistent use of approved supplier QA/QC processes, quality plans, checklists, and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in the assessment and qualification of new and existing suppliers in India against defined technical, quality, process, capacity, and documentation requirements.
  • Support supplier-selection and sourcing decisions by providing factual quality, technical, performance, and capability information; submit recommendations to the authorized decision-maker.
  • Coordinate sample, first-article, and test-order validation; verify drawings, specifications, material certificates, inspection reports, and required quality records before submitting them for approval.
  • Conduct or support supplier process audits and production inspections using approved plans and checklists; document findings and follow up agreed actions.
  • Maintain supplier scorecards and report agreed quality, delivery, audit, capacity, and corrective-action indicators; highlight adverse trends for management review.
  • Coordinate supplier non-conformances, immediate containment, evidence collection, and 8D/CAPA follow-up; verify completion and escalate overdue or ineffective actions.
  • Support Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Supplier Quality with technical clarifications, drawing or specification changes, and new-product-introduction deliverables.
  • Follow up supplier readiness for samples, test orders, and new-product launches, including process documentation, inspection arrangements, production capacity, and milestone status.
  • Identify process or product-quality concerns and coordinate technical support from Engineering or Supplier Quality.
  • Support practical supplier improvements using basic Lean, structured problem-solving, and waste-reduction tools under appropriate technical guidance.
  • Maintain controlled supplier-quality records, including audit reports, inspection results, material certificates, deviations, approvals, non-conformances, and corrective-action evidence.
  • Escalate significant quality, delivery, capacity, technical, or compliance risks promptly through the defined procurement and supplier-quality reporting lines.
  • Coordinate effectively with Indian suppliers and MEA/EAP stakeholders in a multicultural and cross-functional working environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in supplier quality, supplier development, or manufacturing quality within industrial or construction related sector.
  • Strong experience with India supply base, preferably in steel fabrication, structural components, or industrial manufacturing, construction-related products is advantageous.
  • Practical exposure to supplier assessments, inspections, non-conformance follow-up and performance monitoring is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, material standards, welding processes, and certification requirements (EN, ISO, etc.).
  • Basic to working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), 8D, and control plan methodologies. willingness to develop further competence is required.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes and standards, material grades, testing and certification requirements, and welding standards (e.g. EN, ISO, AS 1554). knowledge of additional regional standards may be developed according to the assigned supplier portfolio.

Additional Information

You should apply for this job if you have 

  • Able to reading and interpreting engineering drawings tolerances, specifications and basic inspection requirements.
  • Basic analytical and statistical skills, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and structured reporting.
  • Experience Exposure to order follow-up, production planning, capacity information and supply-chain risk management is essential.
  • Good written and spoken English is required; Hindi or Marathi language is advantageous for supplier communication.
  • Able to communicate effectively with Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Operations and supplier representatives, seeking guidance when decisions exceed the role’s authority.
  • Proven problem-solving capability and ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within India and occasionally across the MEA/EAP region according to business need.
