Job Description
The Yard Support Specialist, DUSA, plays a key role in supporting our Branch Pre-assembly & Yard Operations Teams with their day-to-day tasks and processes. This role is seen as a multiplier, utilizing her/his understanding of market changes, construction methods and sequences to bring innovation, training and best practices to our custom formwork production teams. As a close second focal point, this individual is responsible for identifying operational inefficiencies and implementing process improvements across the entire yard operation, which can include equipment purchasing, maintenance, and the administrative tasks essential for smooth yard operations.

The position involves significant travel to various branches, working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. The ideal candidate should be adaptable to changing conditions and willing to take on a hands-on role when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship & Process Improvement:
- Mentor and guide Pre-assembly and YOP (Yard Operations) Managers and their teams in their daily work and compliance with quality control measures.
- Identify inefficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and support implementation to enhance operational productivity and safety. (Example, material knowledge, tooling, transportation)
- Promote use of our FS manual and spearhead its further development/expansion
- Promote a production mindset in our branches with detailed cost tracking/review process
- Promote implementation of advanced and innovative solutions (Pre-assembly app, Calendar)
- Identify standout talent within the organization and support further development
- Equipment & Supplies Management:
- Oversee procurement, reconditioning, and maintenance of yard operation equipment (e.g., forklifts, pressure washers, saws, CNC machines).
- Ensure yard personnel are trained in proper equipment usage and maintenance standards.
- Administrative & Material Management:
- Promote uniform standard for preassembly drawings, material lists and Outbound/inbound process
- Assist with material cycle counts, yard preparation, and inventory execution.
- Train yard staff on accurate documentation and the use of order processing systems for material movements (e.g., Apps, journals).
- Create administrative checklists to ensure adherence to deadlines and support accurate material grading, processing, and reconditioning.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of materials required for each project phase, ensuring usage of our tools for demand forecasting and capacity/resource planning.
- Review blueprints to determine project scope and assess whether deadlines are achievable.
- Branch Support, Travel & Audits:
- Build strong working relationships with Yard and Office Operations teams, providing support with reconditioning efforts, assist with order fulfillment, and conduct external quality audits.
- Report audit findings to management and suggest improvements to material handling processes.
- Be active partner to all branches to promote capacity exchange across regions
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Develop and maintain reports on quality checks, facility inspections, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA, and address safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma required; a degree in Engineering or Business is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in industrial, commercial, construction, or building materials industries. Experience in facility or material management is highly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to work independently and achieve results with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks, multitasking, and working well under pressure.
- High attention to detail, with strong follow-up, time-management, and analytical skills.
- with working knowledge of AutoCAD as a plus.
- Knowledge of building and safety codes, including OSHA requirements.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%.
