Job Description

The Accounts Payable Clerk will support Doka Canada by managing all aspects of the accounts payable process in accordance with established procedures across the country, accurately & in a timely manner. In addition, they will support managers, employees & external stakeholders on various AP inquiries. The individual hired in this role must possess highly developed inter-personal skills, be detail oriented, driven and adaptable to changing priorities and self-motivated to meet deadlines.

This position requires you to report to:

Directly :   Country Controller, Canada

Indirectly :   Branch Manager – Calgary; and

As Required :  the Managing Director(s) of Canada

 

Responsibilities Include:

  •  Perform all accounting functions related to Accounts Payable
  • Enter invoices, credit notes and expense reports into SAP
  • Ensure timely payment of all amounts owing, including verifying and obtaining proper authorization in accordance with company policies prior to release of payment
  • Prepare cheques, account statements, and processes documents received related to vendor accounts 
  • Match all payments to the appropriate backup, and verify the accuracy
  • Ensure all accounts payables procedures are executed in accordance with Doka policies, procedures & guidelines
  • Ensure all data entered into the system is accurate and in a timely manner
  • Reconcile accounts and statements
  • Prepare month-end expense accrual entries
  • Respond to internal & external accounts payable inquiries
  • Handle all vendor correspondence via phone or email
  • Manage vendor profiles, including vendor setup and any changes to the vendor profile
  • Maintain financial security by following internal accounting standards and keep financial information confidential
  • Assist with year end and month end duties as required
  • Ensure adherence to applicable Doka policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A college diploma/ bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Commerce
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years AP/ relevant work experience, commercial construction / formwork / rental industry experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles & procedures
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of accounting systems
  •  Previous SAP experience, is considered an asset
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office (specially Excel)
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
  •  Excellent communication skills, including excellent command of English required (speaking, reading, writing)  
  •  Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently in a result-driven, fast paced, environment

This position involves extensive daily interaction with colleagues, external customers and clients and the incumbent must be comfortable doing so.  Communicates effectively with all levels of management and employees both internally and externally.

This position requires the ability to think strategically and analytically. Able to envision the broader picture, is naturally detail oriented and understands the impacts of his/her accountabilities as they relate to the entire company.  Position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to be organized and to manage strict deadlines.

Working Conditions

Working conditions is primarily internal in an office environment: dry, cool, and well lit.  Office has adjoined warehouse and yard setting with exposure to noise, dust and extreme weather conditions.
