Job Description

The BIM Coordinator for Tekla Structures is accountable for possesses a full understanding of BIM formwork models and will be the subject matter expert regarding all BIM related technical planning and BIM forming projects. He/she provides strong leadership, technical direction and ensures that team members are continually trained in Doka formwork systems. Ensures that the users represent the proper use of BIM formwork modeling for customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordination and managing the BIM formwork models.
  • Create Tekla Structures custom component for company products.
  • Develop Tekla Structures placing tools using internal company logic rules and adapt it to configuration files.
  • Perform internal quality check of the content and user experience in BIM software and serve as a subject matter expert including conduct Doka in-house training, support, and hotline assistance to product users.
  • Prepare Tekla Structures General arrangement, Single-part and Assembly drawings templates.
  • Assure of compatibility of company in-house development products and software with third-party BIM collaboration platforms.
  • Manages the internal communication of BIM-Planning requests for the USA.
  • Relied upon as the communication link between the BIM-Technicians and customers.
  • Analyzes the market needs and requirements.
  • Works closely with the customer, understands and is able to clearly communicate the contractor information requirements.
  • The handling of the BIM formwork models to do the Project Management for quality management, to handle the information to the BIM contact person of the customer.
  • Convert structural drawings for AutoCAD planning based on Tekla Structures software.
  • Support project demands with BIM solutions and applications drawings along with appropriate data for the customer.
  • Share information, best practices and examples on BIM Teamsite.
  • Communication, coordination and involvement of Sales.

Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions:

  • Visits job sites as required, identifies any improper implementation and takes action to insure technical solutions are immediately implemented. Able to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.
  • Service the job site for the correct use of BIM formwork models.
  • Ensures safe working practices and a safe working environment. 
  • Other duties/projects as assigned, such as participating in company committees/teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (civil, construction, or structural) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Tekla Structures software.
  • Extensive formwork experience preferred.
  • Able to set priorities, change priorities to meet the business needs and schedule projects while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills.
  • Willing and able to learn new products, concepts and techniques.
  • Organized team player with strong leadership skills and excellent time management skills. Able to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.
  • General understanding of US regulations, local and national codes, legislation and trends impacting the formwork industry.
  • Understands how the BIM projects and activities of Doka US and the branch offices impact the corporation worldwide. 
  •  Professional experience in using other BIM software solutions preferred.
  •  Familiarity with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper or Dynamo preferred.
  • Experience in C# development and familiarity with Tekla Open API preferred.
