Job Description

The sales and indirect tax accountant will perform day-to-day management of Company’s multi-jurisdictional sales and other indirect taxes; oversight of tax exemption certificates; ad hoc review of contracts and identification of potential sales and use tax risks; tax research. This position will report to the Controller.

This is a Part time role up to 16-20 hours per week.

  • Point person for indirect tax issues, questions and inquiries internally as well as external
  • Timely, efficiently, and accurately review US sales and use tax returns.
  • Prepare timely and accurate general ledger account reconciliations to ensure balances are consistent with underlying tax filings.
  • Assist with business personal property tax filings and processing of property tax bills for payment.
  • Assist with exemption certificate management.
  • Ad hoc review of contracts and identification of potential sales and use tax risks
  • Monitor and maintain the tax compliance calendar to ensure all filings completed on a timely basis.
  • Assist with state and local tax regulation compliance and monitoring of legislative changes, which may affect the Company.
  • Perform research with respect to tax notices and responses as necessary
  • Indirect Tax Audits: Assist with or manage indirect tax audits by state/local taxing authorities. Ensure that any audit findings are addressed and any required changes to determinations or processes are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Indirect Tax Self-Audits:  Perform or manage self-audits of monthly transactions to ensure results align with expectations and to demonstrate effective controls.
  • Continuous Improvement: Manage continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls, and quality.
  • Work on special tax projects with varying levels of involvement and responsibility.
  • Prepare other various tax filings

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience with multi state indirect tax analysis, filing and reporting, At least 8 years of experience of Sales and Use Tax compliance.
  • CPA, JD or Master’s degree in Taxation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with team members, colleagues, management and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills and technical proficiency
  • Able to work well with all levels of employee in the Company
  • Team player possessing a willingness to do what it takes to accomplish the tasks set forth
  • Strong proficiency using Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Vertex.
