Job Description

The Director of European Sales position is based in Germany and is responsible for identifying new business, markets, applications and developing relationships for the most important European client accounts with the goal of increased sales for all Ulbrich locations. Responsible for managing and directing marketing and for developing and implementing business plans and programs that are aligned with identified European growth and profit objectives.

INITIAL PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain and execute the annual new European business plan for all Ulbrich locations.   
  • Responsible for identification and capture of new European business opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Identify new European markets to pursue.
  • Pursue and cultivate opportunities to provide value-added processes.
  • Meet with European customers and vendors.
  • Help develop European division forecasts and budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with all European divisions of Ulbrich. 
  • Effectively coordinate with Sales, General Managers, Product Managers and Operations personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively position sales and marketing to support new business development through Lead Process.
  • Collaborate with product development and sales personnel relative to sales forecasts, product and customer standards and requirements. 
  • Collaborate with other senior leadership team members in the deployment and implementation of the Company’s overall strategic sales and marketing plans and goals.  
  • Ownership of New Business Proposal development, including market and SWOT analysis, cost/price analysis, schedule development and risk analysis.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to support business capture and create and maintain customer relationships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to gain knowledge of future market and customer needs to further develop business opportunities.
  • Apply thorough understanding of technical capabilities, operational capacity and market information to influence plans and strategies.
  • Thorough understanding of competitors’ products, benchmarking, customer challenges, market intelligence and identifying trends to develop opportunities.
  • Remain current on trends and developments within the area of metals and manufacturing technology.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business, sales and marketing strategies, plans and programs to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Possesses an influential and motivational leadership style.
  • Strong communication, analytical and decision making abilities.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of metals industry best practices and the ability to implement same.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and delegation abilities.
  • Experience working on complex problems, analyzing situations and evaluation of intangible variables from a broad, strategic, and long-term perspective.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Project Management software.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:

  • BS Degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience within the European steel industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow business, sales and financial strategies, and marketing plans and programs that foster the achievement of organizational profitability objectives.
  • Proven track record of growing business by utilizing metrics and industry best practices.
