Job Description
Ulbrich Shaped Wire Inc. is located in North Haven, CT has an exciting opportunity for a Production/Materials Planner.
Under the general direction of the Materials Planning Manager, performs diversified duties related to the daily planning and scheduling of equipment, and personnel as well as the issuance of materials from inventory to production in a manner that capitalizes upon equipment and operational capacities and meets customer specifications and delivery terms.
Specific areas of required expertise include:
- Plans and schedules material and operational flow in accordance with established methods and standards, optimizing equipment and personnel utilization and minimizing machine set up changes and down time.
- Prepares material requirement orders for inventory, identifying nature and type of stock and issuing requisition for material.
- Perform follow-up on orders to expedite delivery, resolve pricing discrepancies, and/or to identify alternative products as needed.
- Effectively resolve supplier issues including claims, deliveries, and documentation.
- Manage and reconcile inventory and costs in conjunction with Inventory Control procedures.
- Coordinates scheduling effort as required to ensure efficient flow of work through sequential processes of operation.
- Determines process lead time on orders to ensure meeting delivery requirements.
- Enters and maintains all related documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Follows progress of workflow, investigates delays, and recommends corrective action.
- Advises manager of production, material availability, and/or scheduling issues particularly when they may negatively impact product delivery.
- Effectively interface with Manufacturing and Sales on any related issues.
Qualifications
- An Associates degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of related experience with production control and scheduling responsibilities.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be proficient using the computer and all applicable software applications required for this position.
- Ability to manage frequent changes in priorities and to effectively communicate at all levels of the operation in order to obtain and provide required information.
