Job Description

Ulbrich Shaped Wire has a full time opportunity for a Tool Room Machinist at the Ulbrich Shaped Wired facility in North Haven, CT. This position will report to the Tool Room Supervisor. Hours of work 7am-3pm, M-F.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and manual grinding machines. Working knowledge of the operations required to grind or mill all sizes of slitter knives, rubber spacers, and all other round steel and carbide tooling. Knowledge of the various adjustments to compensate for wheel wear and dress wheels as required. Knowledge of Trak CNC Lathes, CNC Millers. Capable of working independently. Responsible for final inspection of fabricated tooling and components. Fabricate, manage, and modify work holding tools and fixtures as required by specific jobs.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years experience in OD & ID surface grinding of various part profiles in steel and carbide. Knowledge of using instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, profilometers, and blocks. Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and tolerance. Maintain the machines and keeping work area in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Operate all room equipment in an efficient manner, including PM's. Light to medium physical effort required to make set-ups and adjustments. Continuous mental and visual attention needed to perform job effectively.
