Job Description

Ulbrich of Illinois, located in Alsip, IL is seeking experienced Machine Operators.  Candidates must be flexible to work 2nd shift. 

    Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Determine cut or edge specifications and quantities per job order.  Select proper stock, remove binding and load stock onto equipment.  Position, set up and/or adjust, material, edging dies, cutters, gauges, flattening or shaping rolls according to specification in order to achieve desired cut length or edge.
  • Visually monitor in-process operation and conduct in-process gauging as appropriate to the operation.  Perform adjustment to equipment, controls, guides, gauges and/or settings to ensure accuracy and integrity of in-process material.
  • Visually inspect stock for surface imperfections such as scratches, pit marks, discolorations, stains, holes and reject or cut out defective material as appropriate to operation.
  • Remove finished material from equipment and prepare for subsequent operation(s).  Document operation performed in system. 
  • Maintain equipment and work area in clean orderly condition.  Lubricate equipment and/or fittings, in accordance with procedure.  Replace worn rolls and/or cutters as appropriate.
  • Detect and report unusual conditions to Shift Supervisor, notify maintenance of need for shear blade changes. Lubricate equipment daily according to prescribed instructions.
  • Identify and record all nonconforming product problems and initiate corrective action measures if within capabilities or notify Shift Supervisor of non-conforming product problem.
  • Responsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Company’s quality system as pertains to this position.
  • Follow all defined safety practices and procedures.  Report all potential hazardous and/or unsafe working conditions to Shift Supervisor. 
  • Report potential hazardous and/or unsafe working conditions to Shift Supervisor.  Assist in maintaining good housekeeping within area.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of previous related experience operating process machinery.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret written documents, problem solve and perform basic math calculations to a level generally equivalent to that attained at a high school level, including the use and calculation of decimals, fractions.
  • Ability to use micrometer, caliper, scale and fixed gauges and other simple measuring equipment.
  • Ability to make operating adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Ability to work from job orders, customer specifications and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to use reason and judgment in the planning and performance of duties.
