Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Move in process materials and finished work to and from various departments, locations, and areas using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Refer to work order to identify and locate proper material in correct amounts.  Perform pick up and delivery of material as requested.
  • Accurately enter materials movement records in inventory tracking system.
  • Operate overhead crane and hoist to pick up and move coils of strip steel and other materials.
  • Assist others in the disposal of trash and scrap.
  • Operate forklift and electric hand truck in a prescribed manner of safety and report any mechanical difficulties to Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform related duties as required and maintain equipment in a clean condition.
  • Responsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Company’s quality system as pertains to this position.
  • Follow all defined safety practices and procedures.  Report all potential hazardous and/or unsafe working conditions to Shift Supervisor.  Detect and report unusual conditions.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping within all work areas.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months of previous, related experience performing material handling function within production environment.
  • Current Fork Truck operation certificate of training.
  • Ability to read and interpret written documents.
  • Ability to work from written job orders and operational procedures.
  • Ability to use hand/electric shears for the purpose of sample requests.
  • Computer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use reason and judgment in the planning and performance of duties.
