Job Description

Accounting Clerk

Under the general direction of the Controller performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining the accounts payable and/or accounts receivable for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are not all encompassing.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned consistent with business requirements.)

· Processes invoices, check requests, and expense reports.

· Codes vendor invoices and files related supporting documents.

· Checks and verifies expense reports.

· Researches and responds to all Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable inquiries from vendors & internal departments

· Research and reconciling vendor statements.

· Generates payments and distributes checks.

· Opens all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable mail and emails and distributes to the appropriate accounting staff

· Assisting with month and year-end financial closes, and special projects as needed

· Provide back up support to Billing and A/P & A/R functions as necessary

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:

A high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of previous accounting experience. Requires strong working knowledge of accounts receivable/payable principles and processes. Must be detail oriented and accurate; basic knowledge of general Accounting principles preferred. 

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
