Job Description

Located in Wallingford, Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager of Project Engineering and Maintenance.  This position is responsible for the management of all projects, installations, modifications and maintenance of the manufacturing facilities and the re-rolling, slitting, edging and related equipment.

Specific areas of required expertise include:

  • Plans, oversees and carries out all capital equipment projects striving for on time and on budget completion;
  • Participates in the annual budget and capital expenditure process;
  • Meets and negotiates with vendors to acquire necessary equipment;
  • Oversees daily maintenance/electrical operation activities and staff;
  • Actively participates in Lean and Continuous Improvement activities;
  • Assists Maintenance Department as needed to resolve operational problems;
  • Ensures the application of proper safety standards for the safe operation of all equipment;
  • Determines and plans continued training for Maintenance Department staff; and
  • Assist with requirements related to the processing of non-hazardous manifests.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical course of study plus a minimum of 7 years of applicable leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with the development and management of a preventive maintenance program. Strong functional knowledge of production operations, electrical/electronic troubleshooting, PLCs, computers, pneumatics, hydraulics, general mechanical equipment/building repairs and maintenance practices. Experience with parts inventory and computerized maintenance management systems; extensive knowledge of repair procedures and preventive maintenance.  Strong communication skills and project management skills required.
