Job Description

Located in the south suburbs of Chicago, Ulbrich of Illinois, a subsidiary of Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, Inc., seeks a full-time Human Resources Manager with experience in a manufacturing setting. Primary responsibilities will include, payroll administration, professional, production and administrative staff recruitment, benefits administration, wage and salary administration, employee relations, affirmative action, training, workers’ compensation, safety/security, and communications. This position requires an in-person presence at our office in Alsip, Monday through Friday. 

Specific areas of responsibilities include:

  • Promote positive employee relations by ensuring that policies and procedures are administered fairly and consistently;
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal employment-related regulations;
  • Provide leadership team with advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation;
  • Process payroll using ADP/Kronos interface;
  • Administer complete range of benefit programs;
  • Oversee performance management programs;
  • Maintain wage/salary administration program;
  • Advise leadership team on constructive counseling and corrective action;
  • Investigate employee complaints and follow-up accordingly;
  • Recruit, interview, make selection recommendations, negotiate offers, complete background and reference checks; and
  • Conduct all new employee onboarding.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field, Master’s Degree in Human Resources preferred, plus a minimum of 7 years of multi-faceted professional level HR generalist experience; excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills; knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and employee/labor relations; solid computer skills including proficiency with MS Word/Excel; strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated; the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization; previous experience with ADP Payroll; demonstrated team and project leadership skills; PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
