Job Description

We have an immediate opening for Technical Support Specialist at Ulbrich Specialty Wire Products in Westminster, SC.  This position will investigate and resolve software and hardware problems of computer users.

Specific areas of responsibilities include:

  • Answering,  evaluating, and prioritizing incoming requests for assistance from users on hardware, software, networking, telephone and other computer-related technologies;
  • Determining whether problem is caused by hardware, software or applications and determine source;
  • Handling problem recognition, researching, resolving and following-up on routine user problems, opening up a case and referring more complex problems to second level support;
  • Logging and tracking calls using helpdesk software and maintain history of records and related problem documentation;
  • Analyzing and evaluating incident reports and making recommendations to reduce help line incident rate;
  • Communicating with software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products;
  • Training users on software and hardware on-site or recommend outside contractors to provide training;
  • Installing personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment; and
  • Coordinating installation of hardware and software, and implementing procedural changes.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree in business, computers or a related field, plus a minimum of 2 years similar experience. Excellent communication skills to include face-to-face, telephone, and written communications are necessary. Proficient with installing and troubleshooting a variety of hardware and software applications; working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures necessary to performing position responsibilities; basic knowledge of company computer systems and capabilities.
