Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of over 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and a Free to Play game, BattleCrore Arena. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) and on the Anvil game engine. Job Description

As a Technical Animation Director, you will be responsible for determining, preparing and adapting the tools that will be used during production on the Animation side.

Your responsibilities:

  • Participate in game and technical design meetings and determine the project’s technical animation needs;
  • Coordinate and act as the point of contact between the animation and programming teams;
  • Supervise the design, integration, and validation of the in-game animations in the engine and facial animation pipeline;
  • Communicate regularly technical constraints and their rationales to the animation team;
  • Provide constant technical support for the tools and engine to every member of the animation team;
  • Be the point of contact for the technical issues related to animations 
  • Produce tools, methods, training, processes and engine constraints documents for future reference

Qualifications

  • Solid experience as Animation Technical Director in the video game industry 
  • Excellent knowledge of real-time animation systems and video games and/or pipeline development
  • Excellent knowledge of Motion Builder and/or Maya, plus ideally Motion Capture Body and Facial
  • Excellent knowledge of python
  • Knowledge of another DCC (Maya, 3DS max, Blender)
  • Ability to work in a team and to take up challenges.
  • Good ability to teach and mentor
  • Fluent English is essential to carry out your missions
