What you'll do


Video Games today have evolved to be grand social ecosystems, that thrive on not only the game mechanics but the community of players that play them. Healthy player communities are created by designing ways for players to have a positive experience from the ground up, and at Ubisoft we’re investing in how we better understand and encourage positive behavior. To help drive this initiative we’re hiring a Player Behavior Project Manager. 


The Player Behavior Project Manager needs to be an expert in the field of toxicity in gaming communities, and stay abreast of trends, best practices, and developing techniques for mitigating toxicity and managing it when it happens. He’ll use this expertise to design detailed research into improving our games and community tools and manage the studies with research teams to then make recommendations on how Ubisoft can better prevent Toxicity in its games. 


The Project Manager then will need to work with each studio, technical, support, business, and game teams to help customize their recommendations to meet the specific design features and functions of that game, iterating and evolving our company approach to Toxicity with each new cycle.  


  • Centralize and manage the best practices across the industry – keeping a common reference of what the “state of play” is when it comes to how companies manage and mitigate player behavior.  
  • Actively work with external trade groups like the Fair Play Alliance and other partner game companies to share direct experience and ideas  
  • Design test scenarios with Research teams to study core player motivational factors that lead to toxic behavior in communities  
  • Work side by side with Game Developers on mechanics that encourage positive play and behavior within games based on best practices and are grounded in fundamental research  
  • Work with data teams to better define and measure toxicity in our communities and games  
  • Monitor toxicity in our communities and help guide the company to reactive and systemic toxicity issues with the help of the global community management team.  
  • Educate game teams, business groups, and operational frontline employees on the state of toxicity in our games and all we are doing to mitigate it  
  • Be both an individual contributor to mitigating toxicity that will eventually scale into a small team of experts on how we manage toxicity globally. 


What you bring to the team


  • Be the definition of Player First – have extensive game industry knowledge and an understanding of experience design and management.  
  • Relevant experience in HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or other applicable field, Graduate degree considered a plus.  
  • Senior expertise level in customer research, design and analysis 
  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge and understanding of game design fundamentals either from prior work experience or formal design education, evaluated via interview test 
  • Senior work experience in the entertainment or related industry 
  • Senior expertise in project management on similar, enterprise wide project definition and development, with prior experience on managing process in large corporate organizational structures and how to best change it 
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills – someone who excels at taking complex ideas and communicating them inside a large enterprise corporation  
  • Bilingual (French/English)  
  • A fundamental love of gaming, game community and the gaming culture.
