Job Description

The VP of Finance + Accounting is a key member of the Ubiquity Retirement + Savings Executive Team reporting to the CEO. They are responsible for directing all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial management activities. Success in this role will result from the combination of hands-on technical knowledge and the ability to effectively develop and lead a team to achieve established objectives. Additionally, this role will collaborate with Ubiquity’s CEO, COO, and other leadership to create and manage a future view by establishing and managing strategy for profitability.


Core Responsibilities

  • Own all accounting processes including general ledger, A/R, A/P, revenue recognition, payroll reporting, banking relationships, and financial reporting
  • Produce accurate, relevant and timely financial reports, forecasting, and budgets for company management
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Develop and manage a team that proactively drives continuous improvement
  • Manage the relationship with the external auditors, banks, lenders, and other financial institutions
  • Coordinate the completion of the annual tax returns and 409(a) valuation
  • Assist with company governance activities including corporate insurance and equity accounting and administration of cap-table vendor
  • Support Board and Executive Team by participating in the presentation of financial information at quarterly board and company meetings
  • Effectively discharge administrative management duties such as setting objectives, assessing performance, and resolving personnel problems
  • Take ownership and initiative in responding to special projects (i.e. joint ventures, equity management, etc.)
  • Represent and perform financial analysis and strategy along with tax and risk management
  • Drive investor development and relations
  • Establish and manage capital investment plan
  • Ensure ongoing profitability of the business and its holding
  • Top level oversight of all team functions as well as being involved in day to day operations
  • Maintain, follow, and enforce all Ubiquity security policies and procedures at all times

Qualifications

Competencies

Skills + Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and key principles of application for a wide array of accounting and finance areas
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Public accounting experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced MS Excel and data management skills; NetSuite proficiency a plus, but not required
  • Superior analytical skills combined with solid business judgment
  • Must be a problem solver with a strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate technical information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of building, developing, and leading high performing teams
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience with at least 5 years in small company environment and 5+ years in senior roles
  • SaaS company experience a plus
