Job Description:
The Business System Analyst, BSA, will be responsible for compiling and documenting system requirements, as well as the planning and execution of testing, as assigned. Specifics regarding the resource qualifications are below. Role and Responsibilities: Assignments to include, but not be limited to any or all of the following; Business and system level requirements, Scope change, Testing strategy, test case development and execution in any assigned test phase, i.e., unit integration, system integration, user acceptance, deployed application, Primary interface between the business and the Information Technology department in understanding and interpreting and documenting the needs of each organization to the other, for the purpose of furthering AEP’s overall implementation of business strategy. Strategy and process development to improve efficient execution of the business needs. Specifically: Will be responsible for proposal development with deliverables aligned with AEP SDLC methodology. Will work under the leadership of the Project Manager for all project task related estimates, and actuals reporting for delivery of assigned tasks from the Plan Phase forward. Includes the communication of any concerns and issues that may affect project schedule and or user acceptance of the developed application, early on, to Project Manager. Will work closely with the individual business process owners in the business in understanding requirements and testing needs. Will work closely with business unit representatives to ensure the application is thoroughly tested. Will provide evaluations and recommendations for any items believed to have an impact on project deliverables.
Will look for opportunities to consolidate data and recommend or improve business processes and or procedural changes, wherever possible. Will assist in the identification of any new or enhanced functionality required by acting as the primary customer advocate within IT on system implementations and process reengineering efforts in assigned project areas. Will be a key participant in data mapping and documentation. Will participate in post implementation review
Will create assigned documentation in conformance with AEP established project guidelines, unless otherwise modified and approved by project team leadership. Will need to communicate effectively with technical and business resources assigned to the project. Other possible Responsibilities, if assigned; Assist in the development of business case documentation, Assist with coordination activities related to execution of the test plan., Identify appropriate test data in relevant source systems, and incorporate this data into test scripts to document expected results for testing activity., Assist with project activities relative to data preparation for go live., Assist in other areas of addressing project related issues, as assigned. Required skills: Bachelor Degree in relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business. Five or more years of related experience. Facilitation of elicitation and analysis sessions in both group and individual, 1:1, settings in order to create and finalize accurate requirements and test documentation, approach. Experience using Lean concepts, leading Value Stream Mapping and/or Kaizen sessions. Strong business analysis skills.
Excellent oral and written communication. Ability to work independently. Experience constructing Use Cases, Data Flow Diagrams, Flow Charts, Process Decomposition, and other visual forms of communication of requirements. Familiarity with data analysis and logical data modeling: Experience with test strategy and planning for application integration, system, UAT testing. Experience with integration testing of applications interfacing to multiple enterprise systems. Ability to coordinate testing activity in accordance with test plan. Attention to detail and ability to thoroughly document a test plan, test scripts, and expected or actual results. Preferred skills include experience in the utility industry. Business Objects or Cognos BI experience. Background in documentation and analysis of data and reporting requirements. Experience with both waterfall and agile SDLC methodology.

Also helpful:
• Experience working on teams within an Agile framework (i.e., Scrum)
• Experience with organizing and performing system testing, and working with customers for UAT
