Department

Within NXP, the department ITEC develops, supplies and services leading edge assembly and test equipment for (discrete) semiconductors. The integrated assembly lines and other high-speed equipment play an important role in the roadmap towards cost leadership in assembly.

 

Job description

The principal mechanical engineer has a deep knowledge of mechanical engineering, in particular with fast moving pick and place equipment. He drives the development of ITEC assembly equipment, with respect to mechanical concepts, which form the basis for this equipment. Based on specific knowledge of mechanical principles, he defines future machine architectures together with mechatronic, software and electrical engineers. He takes into account technical boundaries on one-hand and customer requirements on the other hand to set-up the mechanical development plan, and is responsible for the feasibility of that plan. He coaches a team of mechanical engineers and drives the effectiveness of working methods.

 

The principal engineer is a known expert in his field. He maintains a network of contacts inside and outside NXP to stay in touch with the latest technology. He evaluates new technology on applicability for ITEC.

 

Occasionally he will act as a project leader, writing the project plan, monitoring progress and budget and reporting to customer and management.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Minimum Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimal five years of experience in development and projects relating to High-tech equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with project management
  • Analytical and architectural thinking skills
  • Extensive mechanical experience in fine-mechanical equipment
