Our goal is to bring fusion electricity to the grid by developing the power stations of tomorrow and the skilled workforce to deliver them.

About the Job

As a Finance Assistant, you'll provide essential financial and administrative support to the Finance Directorate, helping to ensure the smooth running of key financial processes across UKAEA. Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll support colleagues with financial queries, reporting, ERP system administration and routine accounting activities, while contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a career in finance within a supportive and dynamic environment. This is a part time, 3 day per week role.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide day-to-day support to colleagues across the business, responding to finance-related queries and resolving routine issues.
  • Support key financial processes, including period-end activities, journals, budgets and financial reporting.
  • Maintain financial data within the ERP system, including work orders, delegations and other finance structures.
  • Assist with timesheet administration, goods receipting, audit queries and other routine finance activities.
  • Support financial planning, reporting and asset verification processes to help ensure accurate financial records.
  • Test finance system updates and support continuous improvements to financial processes.
  • Provide administrative support across the Finance team, including covering colleagues where required and assisting Finance Apprentices.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and handle confidential information with discretion.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience in an administrative or finance support role.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office and databases or ERP systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to manage your workload and work independently when required.
  • A flexible and collaborative approach, with a willingness to support a variety of finance and administrative activities.

UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week) in line with business needs. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role.
