Job Description
The salary for this role is £51,317 + excellent benefits including outstanding pension. Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role can be based at any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to be eligible for SC Clearance (must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role

As Group Senior Internal Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the UKAEA Group’s strategic goals utilising a collaborative approach with key stakeholders and assisting the Group Internal Audit Function in managing and implementing the audit programme, which is one of the main drivers of continuous improvement within the organisation. You will also be driving the business in the development and promotion of a proactive culture for assurance and acting as a Deputy to the Group Systems Audit Manager ensuring compliance and continual improvement of the Group’s Internal Audit programme.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Planning, conducting and delivering audit assignments as required including the whole audit lifecycle from development of audit terms of reference, planning and leading fieldwork, and formulating audit conclusions to generation of audit reports and presenting to senior management.
- Supporting in the planning and implementation of the audit programme including development of the audit plan and co-ordination of audit resource, including budgets.
- Co-ordinating internal audit resources including ensuring appropriate competencies are maintained against an appropriate training matrix.
- Liaising with senior management in the generation of actions to address audit recommendations, including root cause analysis and consideration of risk exposures and review implementation of actions.
- Collaborating with the QSHERA Directorate Senior Leadership Team to assist the roles to drive continuous improvement of the UKAEA risk management and control frameworks.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified as an Internal Auditor (CMIIA or CIA) or Internal Audit Practitioner with significant experience or extensive internal audit experience.
- Degree or higher degree.
- Highly developed organisational awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Data analytics skills and highly IT numerate.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including SharePoint.
Desirable Requirements:
- Power Platform experience desirable.
