Job Description
- Act as the Finance Business Partner for the programme/BU, leading on all financial matters
- Partner with SMT to support delivery and challenge financial performance
- Analyse performance and deliver clear reporting on budgets, variances, risks, and opportunities
- Ensure timely, high-quality financial reporting, including for major grants
- Provide insightful financial advice to drive performance and outcomes
- Lead and develop staff, including resourcing, performance management, and capability building
- Coach project teams on financial processes (forecasting, controls, procurement, timesheets)
- Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in line with policy and IFRS15, and manage aged debt
- Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Build strong relationships with PMs and stakeholders to develop robust budgets and forecasts
- Maintain a strong financial control environment, including balance sheet integrity and audit readiness
- Act as key contact for audits and ensure timely closure of actions
- Support finance initiatives, process improvements, and team capability development
Qualifications
- Part-qualified or nearing qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience partnering with and presenting to senior leadership
- Proven track record managing multi-million-pound projects, including accounting, costing, forecasting, and project controls
- Understanding of IFRS15 revenue recognition and grant accounting
- Experience with audits of major contracts, grants, and EU/Innovate UK programmes
- Ability to manage complex, multi-funding environments and reporting requirements
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups)
- Experience with ERP systems (Unit 4/Agresso advantageous), including report development
