The salary for this role is £54,376 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP), and onsite working is expected for 3 days each week

Job Description

This role can be based at can any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire. 

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role

As RACE Electrical CAD Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring a team of CAD drafters and designers, ensuring the creation of accurate and detailed electrical CAD drawings and plans for our projects. Your responsibilities will include setting strategic goals, coordinating work assignments, and prioritizing tasks to ensure timely project delivery. Combining technical proficiency with leadership skills, you will guide the team to achieve the highest quality of CAD work and contribute to the overall success of our projects.

In this role you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to solve intricate CAD-related technical challenges and ensure designs meet project needs. If you have a keen eye for detail and precision in CAD work, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively, we would love to hear from you.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of electrical CAD drafters and designers while setting strategic goals and performance targets.
  • Oversee the creation, modification, and review of electrical CAD drawings to ensure accuracy, compliance with standards, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Coordinate work assignments, prioritize tasks, and allocate CAD resources to ensure timely project delivery and alignment with project scope and objectives.
  • Establish and enforce CAD standards, best practices, and quality control procedures while conducting rigorous quality checks on drawings.
  • Identify training needs, provide advanced training, and stay updated on CAD software and industry trends to enhance team skills and incorporate cutting-edge practices.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Engineering or technology degree, or equivalent experience.  
  • Extensive experience in electrical CAD design and drafting. 
  • Experience of managing small teams of engineers. 
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical) 
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design principles, schematics and systems. 

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience of working in a safety dominated working environment.
