Job Description

You will be responsible for managing and leading security engineers on our Security Architecture and Engineering team. This team provides expert security advice across Twitter’s stack, ranging from work on Twitter’s infrastructure to work in the application security space. You will be responsible for managing a subset of the team, and will work closely with other managers on the team to set the team’s direction and enable efficient execution. You will help identify security risks and work with partner teams to manage them. You will mentor and advise security engineers on their projects and effort. You will support and advocate for secure-by-default systems that close off entire classes of security problems.

 

As an Manager, Security Engineering, you will:

 

  • Support a diverse team of talented engineers to define and build security controls across a number of systems and technologies.

  • Define the team’s objectives, roadmaps, success metrics, and priorities in collaboration with input from your team, other engineering teams, and partners.

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate classes of potential threats using data-driven approaches and advocate for the prioritization of security improvements.

  • Advance the growth and development of engineers in their careers at Twitter.

  • Use data to drive identification of risk areas and solutions.

 

Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of relevant experience (other jobs, grad school, etc) in information security

  • 1 or more years of management and leadership experience either as an engineering manager or as a tech lead.

  • Previous experience managing a team that delivers security guidance or capabilities for distributed and highly-available systems.

  • Experience working cross-functionally to deliver security capabilities in matrixed and complex large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Broad knowledge of attack vectors, exploits, and mitigations that work at scale.

  • Experience communicating the importance of security to a diverse range of stakeholders. 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent (engineering, social sciences, arts, etc. are all fine)
