Twitter is looking for an engineering leader to head the Growth org. Our mission is for everyone, everywhere to be plugged into the conversations and connections happening now. We are the driver of Twitter’s audience growth strategy across acquisition, activation, and retention, and are one of the largest contributors towards the company's audience growth metric (mDAU). Our role is to reach more customers off-platform and increase awareness of jobs we do (acquisition), help them quickly get started to reach their “aha moment” (activation), and support them in hiring us in the long run and retain (retention). You will be managing managers of managers and full stack teams of client, backend, infra, and machine learning engineers. 

Responsibilities

  • Build high performing engineering teams that deliver results on time and partner effectively with product, data science, design, and research.
  • Partner closely with product and contribute to product strategy. Drive alignment between product leadership and engineering teams.
  • Define a technical strategy and direct teams to invest in our core technical foundation and developer velocity. 
  • Build an engineering culture that’s agile, driven, customer-focused, risk-taking, diverse, and inclusive.
  • Hire, retain, and grow outstanding talents, both engineers and managers. Design the right organizational structure and manage distributed engineering teams at scale, both in terms of size of the organization and complexity.

  • Can set teams up to focus and deliver with speed and quality
  • Strong grasp of designing good metrics and hypotheses and experimentation-driven product development.
  • Can handle a dynamic environment with high ambiguity

Qualifications

  • Track record of leading high impact consumer product development teams
  • 5+ years of experience leading a high impact engineering team and working across data science, product, design, and research to build relevance-powered consumer products
  • Experience with contributing to product strategy and driving alignment among functions by facilitating data-informed decision-making frameworks
  • Have grown senior leaders to Senior Manager and Directors
  • Track record of building healthy engineering culture in the organization, and attract and retain senior engineers
  • Experience building diverse, inclusive, and decentralized teams of over 100 people
  • Has helped engineering teams through periods of rapid growth
  • Experience designing the right processes and systems to facilitate communications, improve execution, and ensure accountability
  • Demonstrated experience in managing technical teams with experience in the fields of Machine Learning and Distributed Systems
  • Demonstrated success partnering with dependency teams to break down problems and make the right technology investments over the long term alongside the right product explorations
