Within Health engineering, the Child Safety team is solely dedicated to ensuring our Trust & Safety partners have all the tools, systems and support they need to focus on their mission of protecting children and vulnerable populations from abuse and exploitation on Twitter. We pride ourselves on having a close working relationship with our partners by listening to their needs and problems and synthesizing them into engineering solutions.

The team is currently distributed across North America and Europe. 

Job Description


What You’ll Do:

  • Primarily focus on supporting the front-end of our systems and tools used for the review and reporting of child exploitation

  • Maintain and expand internal tooling across Twitter that supports enforcing Twitter’s child safety & vulnerable populations policy

  • Contribute to our organization's shared internal React component library

  • Support new Twitter product launches, ensuring our Trust and Safety partners have what they need to enforce our policies against the new product

  • Create innovative ways to detect, review and report child exploitation behavior on the platform

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You are an empathetic engineer that wants to apply their skills and experience toward improving the health of Twitter

  • You are front-end focused, but have experience with backend systems and want to occasionally work on them

  • You have a strong foundation with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • You have experience with ReactJS

  • You have experience writing unit and integration tests 

  • You care deeply about the end user’s experience of what you build

  • You bring thoughtful perspectives, empathy, creativity, and a positive attitude to solve problems at scale

  • You have minimum 3 years commercial full stack experience

 

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • TypeScript

  • JavaScript build systems

  • Scala, Java, Kotlin or any JVM language

  • Any backend system or framework

  • Relational databases 

  • Figma or similar (Photoshop, Sketch)

 

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
