What You’ll Do:


Twitter’s adoption of public cloud products is accelerating and operating across multiple providers. We are seeking a technical leader to establish and lead a planning and analysis group focused on using the cloud efficiently and keeping our costs predictable. Capacity Planning is a new group at Twitter that is responsible for demand planning, forecasting, analysis, and deep partnership with the engineering teams across all of Twitter to understand their use case and match it with the best public cloud offering.

In addition to engineering, this role includes planning, analysis, and business process function. Key partners will be Engineering, Product, and Finance leadership for all of Twitter. This function will also establish and operate higher-level business processes around how capacity decisions are made, aligning these to financial or business objectives.

Set the vision and direction for the Capacity Planning group to enable Twitter to deliver on its reliability and financial goals

  • Create a passion, energy and enthusiasm for owning and solving some of Twitter’s most complex scalability and capacity problems
  • Build and retain a diverse, inclusive and world-class engineering team through mentorship, recruiting, guidance and career development
  • Build capacity management platforms and decision frameworks
  • Partner with engineering teams across Twitter to understand their use case and identify ways to better partner with our cloud providers and our third party software vendors
  • Establish and operate Twitter’s infrastructure efficiency programs
  • Drive product requirements for our Engineering users and business partners to manage their capacity and service scalability
  • Enable predictable and optimized delivery of resources across on-prem and public clouds
  • Define roadmaps to automate our planning and management of our infrastructure
  • Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal stakeholders to drive engineering efforts across our capacity and performance engineering programs
  • Pursue transformative technologies to bend the curve for Twitter and for the industry

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related experience
  • 3+ years experience leading teams within an engineering organization
  • 3+ years of experience with public cloud capacity management
  • Experience in creating diverse and inclusive teams
  • Demonstrated experience thinking strategically, solving large business problems in a metrics driven organization
