Job Description

As a Technical Revenue Accounting Manager, you will be an expert in the revenue standard ASC 606, partner with the business throughout deal review, collaborate with billing and operations teams in the order to cash cycle, have proficiency in accounting and contract management systems, and will take ownership over key areas in the revenue cycle which include contract review, technical research, technical memo drafting and the revenue accounting close. The position requires a high energy individual with a detailed hands-on mindset who can also think strategically, possesses both strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well in a dynamic environment. In addition, the position will require a candidate that is enthusiastic about continuous system, data, and process enhancements that drive operational efficiencies while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the underlying revenue accounting records. 

This position will report to the Director of Technical Revenue Accounting.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with Sales Reps, Finance, Legal, Deal Desk, FP&A and Sales Ops during deal review to provide revenue recognition guidance and strategic deal structuring support
  • Review and summarize revenue contracts to determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Collaborate with billing and revenue operations teams within the order to cash organization to successfully operationalize revenue transactions 
  • Perform technical research and analysis over a broad range of complex revenue recognition issues
  • Draft technical revenue accounting position papers for complex deals and revenue issues 
  • Own the month end and quarter end close process for deferred revenue and contract asset accounts and all related reporting and reconciliation requirements 
  • Assist with the drafting of all global and regional revenue policies 
  • Support the development and implementation of process enhancements to increase operational efficiencies while maintaining integrity and accuracy within the order to cash cycle
  • Support the acceleration and efficiency of the accounting close by expanding the use of quality data and data analytics tools within the order to cash process 
  • Work closely with the Company’s external auditors on substantive testing of revenue and controls and manage quarterly and annual audit requirements
  • Ensure internal controls are operating effectively while maintaining proper documentation of key controls 
  • Assist in the preparation of revenue disclosures for external financial reporting
  • Effectively communicate and educate revenue recognition policies and compliance requirements across the Company

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • Deep knowledge of the ASC 606 revenue standard 
  • Relevant experience and knowledgeable in best practices within the order to cash process
  • Experience in revenue deal review with the ability to provide the support necessary to meet business needs while maintaining integrity and ensuring compliance
  • Experience with data analytics tools and establishing data governance policies and processes 
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and often ambiguous work environment
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Hands on with an attention to detail while having the ability to think strategically
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Enjoy working in a remote team environment

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance or Accounting - CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 6+ years of work experience required, preferably with combined experience in both Big 4 public accounting and corporate revenue accounting roles
  • Extensive knowledge of technical revenue accounting matters and revenue operations
  • Hands-on experience with ERP Systems - Oracle preferred
  • Hands-on experience with contract management systems - Salesforce and Apttus preferred 
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite 
  • Experience with data policy and data analytics tools relating to contract summary, reporting and revenue accounting close processes.
  • Experience w/ Alteryx and Tableau is preferred.
