Job Description
You will be responsible for leading a team of security engineers and analysts, providing leadership, coordination, and operational management of the team. In this critical role, you will help develop detection strategy, set goals, and provide performance and professional feedback. As the manager, you will lead the team to continually improve through better skills, policies, procedures, and processes.
This work is vital to ensuring the security and safety of not just our fellow “Tweeps”, but of our diverse and global users and customers.
As the manager, you will:
Provide vision and direction for the team to build, cultivate, and maintain customer service excellence.
Define operational and strategic metrics for the data protection program.
Drive the creation of algorithms and rules to provide security protections and monitoring for sensitive data on internal Twitter systems with the goal of giving our customers confidence in our services and systems.
Collaborate with partner teams including our incident response, corporate security, compliance and security architecture and engineering teams to achieve shared objectives, provide strategic insight, and lead continuous improvement and scalability of our solutions.
Drive the Team’s strategy to understand how abuse happens, detect and investigate across a broad spectrum of internal threats including abuse of access to customer data and other sensitive information at Twitter.
Support routine regulatory and compliance audit initiatives.
Mentor, grow, and empower your team by giving them the skills, confidence and motivation to make decisions independently and become technical leaders.
Help the individuals on your team to build and execute personal development plans that align with Twitter’s goals and objectives, and understand how their work fits into the bigger picture.
Scale the team by sourcing and hiring talented people both externally and internally.
Manage people working from home or in Twitter offices around the world.
Qualifications
You care deeply about people management and building a secure environment for the people using Twitter everyday. You're experienced with the tools of the trade, comfortable digging into the nitty-gritty, and eager to help others protect our systems. You’re great at coaching security engineers and instilling a growth mindset in your team. Ideally, you have most of the following:
5 or more years of relevant information security experience, with a focus on data loss prevention, insider threat, risk/fraud and/or anti-abuse
3 or more years of exposure to search queries for knowledge engineering, data classification, e-discovery and/or digital forensics projects
Minimum of 3 years leading or managing a cybersecurity team.
Create and manage effective detections and response plans to discover and mitigate abuse on internal tools.
Regularly audit tools, procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks from data loss prevention and insider threat perspective.
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and tactics used within a SOC and how they can be leveraged to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to express technical security concepts into language suitable for many audiences.

Notice (Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act)
The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Colorado is USD$167,000.00 - USD$234,000.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for participation in Twitter’s Performance Bonus Plan and Equity Incentive Plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
