Twitter Service help remove any barriers for our customers in participating in the public conversation by providing help, proactive and reactive enforcement, and customer service that is informed by customers’ expectations and ensures accurate enforcement outcomes aligned to our policies. We partner closely with core data engineering, data science, product health, and operations teams to build the platform for insights that drive growth, efficiency, and innovation.
Twitter is looking for an exceptionally talented and open-minded engineering lead to join the Twitter Service Analytics team to steer the Data Engineering function. The team is the foundation for driving data-informed decision-making across the Twitter Service Org.
Job Description
In this role, you’ll be the key to unlocking large-scale, complex datasets. Your work will directly impact decision-making for our partner teams and org leaders, translating into actionable insights and driving bottom-line growth.
Working closely with firm-wide data engineering teams to build mission-critical data pipelines and products that are ‘source of truth’, as well as state-of-the-art data warehouse solutions, you will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers, and many other data consumers across the company.
Lead a team of motivated engineers who like to tackle hard data engineering and customer experience problems.
Build cohesive, high-functioning teams that thrive in a culture of trust, respect, and inclusion.
Take responsibility for the group’s short-term and long-term strategy. Define the team's roadmap, success metrics, and priorities in close collaboration with other engineering teams and multi-functional partners. Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping things quickly.
Lead a team of data engineers who develop and launch extremely efficient and reliable data pipelines tailor-made to address the needs of the Twitter Service teams
Own your team’s deliverables and ensure we continue to ship scalable, highly-available data models that help build actionable insights to delight our users and customers.
Initiate collaboration across Engineering, Product, Design, Research, User Services, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Comms to develop high-quality end-to-end user experiences and inspire your team to independently do the same.
Have the technical capacity to partner with tech leads and be comfortable diving into the data architecture to help drive resolution in the case of bad incidents.
Define and manage security and privacy requirements, address data quality issues, and drive a rigorous governance process. Define and manage SLA for all data sets
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in either data infrastructure or backend systems
You have experience leading engineers at all levels and you’re skilled at coaching and guiding your directs through their career development.
You have experience with building and deploying data models or data infrastructure solutions that deliver product value.
Strong experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala, etc.), different data-query languages like PL-SQL, Google BigQuery, etc., and visualization tools like Looker ML, tableau, etc.
Strong experience with Hadoop, HDFS and Spark/PySpark

You like to ground decisions in data and reasoning and solve root causes of problems rather than surface issues.
You are adept at communicating relevant information clearly and concisely to business and technical audiences.
You look ahead to identify opportunities and foster a culture of innovation. Able to understand the business and present possible solutions to data-related issues in a concise way
M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Notice (Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act)
The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Colorado is USD$146,000.00 - USD$204,000.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for participation in Twitter’s Performance Bonus Plan and Equity Incentive Plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
