Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Professional Publishers Product team at Twitter where you will play a central role in how Twitter engages with the biggest media companies, sports leagues and celebrities around the world. Our team builds the tools and services that influence how professional customers use the Twitter platform. In this role you will manage components of a content creation product used by our Professional Publishers today, as well as help scale this offering to new customers.

Qualifications

You will be responsible for developing, prioritizing, communicating and completing a roadmap for our products that enable our Professional Publishers to be more efficient and effective with their use of the platform - ultimately driving up user engagement, conversation and revenue generated on Twitter.

  • Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management.

  • Be an ambitious source of engineering talent and be comfortable closing candidates
  • Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently which enables them to develop and perform as highly as possible

Our ultimate goal is to ‘ship it’, so it’s imperative that the engineering manager:

  • Owns the group’s technical strategy and roadmap and creates success metrics in close collaboration with other Engineering and Product Managers.
  • Brings a strong perspective that inspires new ideas and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to sophisticated problems.
  • Works with tech leads and senior engineers to capture requirements, gut checks new feature proposals and large improvements.
  • Has the technical capacity to partner with tech leads and is comfortable diving into the fray to help drive resolution in the case of bad incidents.

  • You foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Backend, Product, Design, Research, and Data Science to develop high-quality, focused products (and inspire your team to independently initiate this same collaboration).
  • You seek diverse perspectives to drive innovation and create consensus from all technical stakeholders inside and outside the team.
  • You are experienced with software engineering best practices and bring a disciplined approach to testing and driving reductions in technical debt.
  • You ensure the team fully understands the goals and objectives of Twitter as a company and how their work fits into the bigger picture.
  • You have experience leading engineers at all levels, including managers, and you’re skilled at coaching and guiding your directs through their career development.
  • You are customer focused, with ability to offer input on high level solutions to customer problems that helps drive product roadmap.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent, with 8+ years of industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
  • Previously led an organization of 20+ engineers (and managers) and successfully delivered on business objectives.

Notice (Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act)

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Colorado is USD$191,000.00 - USD$267,000.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for participation in Twitter’s Performance Bonus Plan and Equity Incentive Plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
