Job Description

Who We Are

Twitter’s Site Integrity team works on the cutting edge of issues that affect the internet today — from combating platform manipulation, emergent harm movements and targeted security threats, to developing policies to protect our users. We innovate, iterate, and move at a fast pace. As part of Twitter’s Trust & Safety department, we’re committed to being a learning organization with a growth mindset, and we’re always looking for ways to improve.

We’re looking for a Senior investigator to lead our efforts detecting, disrupting and deterring harmful group activity on Twitter. We’re seeking someone who understands this developing area, how to draw on established analytical frameworks when useful and when to build innovative approaches to address the unique challenges posed by emergent harm networks online. Your investigations will leverage data at a tactical level, your enforcement decisions will apply data-driven insights and your subject matter expertise will help drive strategy around scaled solutions and policy development at the company level. The role is cross functional in nature, and you will work across our Engineering, Data Science, Product Management, Research and Policy teams as investigative lead in this space.

What You’ll Do

You Will:

  • Lead investigative efforts and partner closely with Policy leadership to identify harmful groups on Twitter, create and execute enforcement strategies to manage related abuse and limit harm to Twitter users, and contribute to ecosystem-wide solutions to rid our platform of related threats.
  • Work within a team of multidisciplinary experts and technical investigators on our global Threat Disruption team.
  • Serve as the primary domain expert for harmful group activity on our investigative team, and embed directly in the cross-functional group managing the Product, Policy, Engineering, Data Science and Research initiatives in the problem space.
  • Help prioritize team investments by providing knowledge of live threats facing our users and our platform, making use of internal tools and external resources.
  • Identify, propose and implement tradecraft improvements to advance our investigative practice at Twitter.
  • Help inform Twitter’s global strategy by engaging in the broader community of investigators and staying informed on developments in the emerging harms space

  • You appreciate the interplay between industry, government, academia and the non-profit sectors in addressing threats posed by harmful groups online.
  • You are passionate about addressing threats to the health of online conversation, and aren’t afraid of solving high impact problems at massive scale with global exposure.
  • You invite close collaboration in your work and have experience finding solutions in the context of a cross-functional team.
  • You are comfortable using SQL and relational databases in your work, and the ability to apply scaled approaches to enhance non-technical analysis
