Job Description

Who We Are

Twitter’s Cloud Acceleration organization enables Twitter developers to use public cloud offerings in AWS and GCP to launch new and exciting products and services at high velocity. Cloud Acceleration also extends Twitter’s Platform services (up to and including compute) to the public cloud by making differentiated cloud offerings available. As part of Twitter's Infrastructure Automation group, we provide automated, scalable solutions to our partner teams in Platform and Twitter-wide so they can meet the needs of Twitter's business. We support Twitter’s hybrid cloud strategy by automating infrastructure on-prem and in the cloud, modernizing and standardizing Twitter infrastructure tooling, and reducing infrastructure risk - all at massive scale.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a distributed team of 25+ engineers across the US and India.

  • Be a key contributor to realizing Twitter’s hybrid, multi-cloud strategy in GCP and AWS by enabling Twitter teams to work seamlessly across on-prem and cloud environments.

  • Work with customers, partners, vendors, and leadership to define the team's vision and strategy and shape the overall hybrid, multi-cloud company strategy.

  • Lead the Infrastructure as Code evolution at Twitter by continuing our progress provisioning environments through Terraform.

  • Sublinearly scale the team by automating away operational toil and partner with the appropriate Platform teams to hand off management of cloud offerings as our use cases mature.

  • Lead infrastructure due diligence for acquisitions hosted in public cloud environments.

  • Ensure user privacy and protection by integrating tools for data management for all cloud storage offerings.

  • Drive and invest in the security of our public cloud environments, including access control and audit support.

  • Establish lean, async engineering processes that use collaboration, focus, and rapid iteration to build the right product for the right problems.

  • Mentor, grow, and empower your team to realize their success.

  • Build strong relationships with key customers and communicate fearlessly with them to build trust.

Who You Are:

  • You're an experienced director of software engineers, site reliability engineers, and managers who believes your success is measured by the success of your team.

  • You have a strong background in distributed systems, code, networking, storage, and operating systems, and production experience operating both on-premises (e.g. Owned & Operated data centers) and in the Cloud (e.g. GCP or AWS) with multiple cloud vendors.

  • You endorse infrastructure as code.

  • You have a proven track record of managing geographically distributed teams, ensuring all members are well integrated.

  • You're confident in challenging the status quo by asking difficult questions while being highly collaborative and open to input.

  • You're a skilled communicator and facilitator with experience driving consensus and collaboration across teams.

  • You’re comfortable interacting with partners and executive leadership to represent your team and the roadmap

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with distributed systems at scale.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Consistent track record of shaping technology strategy and executing upon that vision.

  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership and external partners.

  • Demonstrated history of mentoring and growing teams with varying levels of experience and skills.

  • You care deeply about building diverse teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field is desired. Masters in CS is a plus.
