Who We Are: The Relevance Platform team is part of one of the largest consumer organizations at Twitter. Our mission is to accelerate the development of Twitter recommendation products by providing a shared platform with simple integrations which aids the experimentation and cross-surface productionisation of new candidate sources. 

This team leads the charge of Personalization as an Initiative across the entirety of the Twitter consumer product. As such, the team carries a very high level of visibility with leadership and is directly responsible for facilitating core engagement, retention, and growth strategies at Twitter.

What You'll Do: We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help drive our infrastructure strategy. You will tackle complex problems revolving around the personalization of content, and how to accelerate its development. This will require you to leverage your knowledge and experience of building recommendation systems to drive existing workstreams, as well as identify new opportunities for the team. You will lead diverse, capable, and driven Relevance System Engineers and align their career ambitions with business requirements and opportunities. You will collaborate broadly to develop the platform, onboard new customers, and grow the scope of the team. 

  • Lead the vision and mission for your group. Be responsible for the team’s technical strategy, roadmap, and OKRs.

  • Mentor the professional development of direct reports through personal and performance management. 

  • Build strong relationships with cross functional partners to deliver value to our users.

  • Be an engineering talent magnet to make the team successful in its established mission.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You have a strong software engineering background and have built relevance-driven products.

  • You have led a team of engineers with responsibility for recommendation systems & software development in production.

  • You believe in building both teams and products that scale. You care about setting up healthy, distributed teams, and collaborative environments.

  • You are skilled at coaching and guiding your directs through their careers and growing them to the next level.

  • You’re capable of communicating & collaborating with our business, product, engineering, design, and research colleagues to discover new opportunities that benefit Twitter.

  • You are able to work collaboratively across a large engineering organization, both in terms of scale and complexity of the mission.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience with software engineering in production environments.

  • At least 2 years of experience managing backend systems or machine learning teams.

  • Experience building, or directly managing teams that are building out recommendation systems.
