The Accounting team manages the core accounting responsibilities at Twitter. 

We are looking for an experienced Accountant for our Accounting team.  The main responsibilities of the role include: accounting operations for Property & Equipment (P&E) functions (including but not limited to Data Center Equipment, Leasehold Improvements, Furniture and Fixtures, IT Electronics, Office Equipment and Laptop/Desktop); accounting operations for Software functions  (including but not limited to Internally Developed Software, Third Party Software, Cloud Computing Arrangement and SaaS Contracts); process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of Accounting experience, preferably including Big 4 public accounting experience.  You are someone who is inquisitive, detail oriented and analytical. You know your accounting principles and have strong working knowledge of accounting processes end to end. 

You'll make our processes more efficient and scalable, work to ensure the highest levels of quality are maintained in our day to day operations, and proactively minimize operational risk. This role requires excellent communication, and strong knowledge of accounting principles including ASC 350-40.  Externally, you will collaborate with our business process outsourcing partners and internally, you will collaborate across the multiple teams within Finance as well as other key stakeholders in the business.

Job Description

What You'll Do 

Operations: 

  • Manage fixed asset accounting for Global Real Estate, Data Center Operations and IT Equipment

  • Manage accounting operations for Internally Developed Software, Third Party Software, Cloud Computing Arrangements, and SaaS subscriptions

  • Manage and supervise shared service accounting staff in Bangalore

  • Support SOX compliance activities for Fixed Assets, including execution of key business & IT General Controls, updating SOX documentation, fielding external and internal audit requests, and support of testing efforts

  • Partner with teams within the Controller’s organization, cross-functionally and externally including FP&A, Sourcing, A/P, Real Estate and Workplace Operations, Mission Critical Engineering, and the Experience Org.

  • Support monthly close activities including closing of Fixed Asset subledger, preparation and/or detailed review of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analyses and month end close reporting

  • Support quarterly close activities including preparation and/or detailed review of P&E & Software disclosures, and US GAAP disclosure checklists

  • Lead and support process improvement and digital transformation initiatives and projects A growth mindset: curious, adaptable, loves learning & growth, open to change, and ability to pivot

  • Document and maintain relevant policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2-4 years of accounting experience, a mix of Big 4 and industry experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.

  • Experience executing in a dynamic, high speed and demanding environment by demonstrating organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional global environment and building lasting business relationships.

  • Alteryx, Tableau, Excel Macro, and Robotics Process Automation (RPA) tools a plus

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Oracle experience (R12.2.9) preferred
