Job Description

The Design Foundation is a team of specialized collaborators that partner with teams across Design, Research, Engineering and Product. Design Foundation helps uplift craft, multiply capability and create scalable efficiencies that clarify and accelerate cross-discipline working practices while streamlining and improving the quality of user experience for all of Twitter’s customers. 

The Design Foundation Ops Team envisions a state where our team and partners work from a clear, grounded layer of operational excellence and strategic partnership. Our DPMs provide a crisp focus on team priorities, enabling the Design Foundation team and its cross functional partners to do their best work.

How do we get there? The Design Foundation Ops team builds operational excellence and designs operating strategy. Our work seeks to facilitate clarity, velocity, and consistency internally and cross-functionally.

What You'll Do:

  • Work directly with design and cross-functional teams to create experiences that enrich the lives and livelihoods of the people we serve

  • Design and drive large and complex cross-functional programs with diverse stakeholders

  • Craft and drive a program to support designer onboarding, learning and development 

  • Partner with core cross-functional teams in design systems, content design, engineering and creative 

  • Create proposals and project plans

  • Ensure roles, responsibilities, and roadmap are clear 

  • Serve as the central point of contact on a program for Design, Research, Product, Engineering, and TPM partners

  • Organize design workshops, design sprints and reviews

  • Facilitate meetings, moderate the conversation and move it forward

  • Track work using issue tracking software (such as Jira)

  • Send clear and concise status reports on a regular cadence, with a recovery path for any variance to plan

  • Break silos between and within teams, connect dots

  • Advocate for the end user, ensure research is part of the design and product development process

  • Actively initiate and program manage design initiatives to solve problems that directly impact product development velocity and quality

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of proven design / creative program management experience, preferably with at least 3-4 years experience working in or with tech companies 

  • This person will also have strong business acumen who creates wins for the Design Foundation team, and most importantly, Twitter and the people we serve

  • They will be known for making smart business decisions and having a deep understanding of the product development process

  • Creative problem solver who creates conditions for teams to do excellent work 

  • Familiarity with Design Systems and design tooling for digital products

  • Passion for designer experience advocacy and practice 

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills – ability to communicate clearly and effectively to achieve desired outcomes – demonstrating keen understanding of the audience, and to facilitate stakeholders towards positive outcomes

  • Successful track record of managing complex programs, driving efficiencies without sacrificing quality or creativity, and implementing sustainable and scalable solutions 
  • Proven ability to architect high quality programs, mobilize and lead teams with flexibility and ease, sustain momentum to deliver quality results.

  • High design and research acumen – ability to create the conditions for, and drive the team towards, high quality design and research outcomes based on deep understanding of the value and methodologies of design and research.

  • Technically adept and familiar with UI and UX trends on iOS, Android, and the web.
