Job Description

In partnership with a world-class team of distributed system and client engineers, you will be responsible for developing, prioritizing, communicating, and executing a roadmap of best-in-class solutions for our search infrastructure and services used across product development at Twitter. 

Core Services is looking for a customer-obsessed product leader that’s passionate about search, thrives in a complex collaborative environment, and can rally teams to deliver amazing products. Previous experience as a Product Manager building search platform services/products focused on large-scale search processing, indexing, query language, high availability, performance, and scalability. You bring deep technical domain knowledge in the search space, product management & design thinking, and the ability to lead a complex roadmap. 

Working closely with a diverse set of product teams from across Twitter, you will help us: 

  • Tune our product strategy and execution to make sure we are delivering search infrastructure products that are fast, efficient, and dependable for our customer teams

  • Create and maintain systems that allow feature teams to efficiently index, discover, publish candidate generation sources and search for teams at Twitter. (includes Direct Messages, Spaces, Communities, and super follows)

  • Improve pace of feature development for client and backend engineers at Twitter by providing easy access and better control over their indexes, candidates, and overall development experience. 

  • You will use your understanding of search platforms, analytics, and ML to synthesize ideas that improve Twitter's search platform offering

  • Your cross-team collaboration skills will enable those improvements to be conceptualized and delivered to drive meaningful and impactful business outcomes

Responsibilities:

  • Technical depth in the search domain that lets you communicate with, understand, and earn the respect of world-class engineers.

  • Excellent structured thinking and clear communication style, both in person and in writing.

  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts for a variety of non-technical audiences. 

  • A design thinking approach to problem-solving and product management.

  • Strong sense of customer empathy to care deeply about customer problems and user experience.

  • Ability to think strategically and craft a compelling product vision and strategy.

  • Exceptional planning, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and agile software development.

  • Engage with customers, develop insights into what is possible, and uncover unarticulated customer needs to drive customer success.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, and product teams to plan, drive and deliver product releases.

  • Define product specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with engineering or independently.

  • Own the "whole" product experience

Qualifications

  • In-depth technical understanding of search platform services and large-scale systems
  • A track record of managing large-scale infrastructure products.
  • Experience simultaneously supporting multiple teams and customers.
  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation, and data-driven product decision-making

Notice (Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act)

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in Colorado is USD$167,000.00 - USD$234,000.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for participation in Twitter’s Performance Bonus Plan and Equity Incentive Plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
