Who We Are:
Core Infrastructure at Twitter serves the public conversation by providing the foundation upon which Twitter is built. We are responsible for Networking Engineering, Data Center Engineering, Site Operations, and Hardware Engineering. We design, build, maintain, and operate Twitter’s data center infrastructure with scalability and reliability in mind. We believe passion and personality matter. As such, we need someone who can drive change at scale, and manage diverse, smart, and driven engineers while balancing personnel challenges with business requirements and priorities.
What You'll Do:
Set the vision and direction for Core Infrastructure to enable Twitter to deliver on its capacity, reliability and financial goals
Create passion, energy, and enthusiasm for owning and solving some of Twitter’s most complex scalability and infrastructure problems in code
Build and retain a diverse, inclusive, and outstanding engineering team through mentorship, guidance, and career development
Develop software to manage the hardware lifecycle of Twitter’s global on-premises infrastructure
Build services that delight our Platform Engineering users and business partners while balancing capacity, financial, and scalability requirements
Lead partnerships broadly across Core Infrastructure and Platform Services to effectively scale and plan our infrastructure and investments
Define roadmaps to reduce the human toil required to operate Twitter’s global data center infrastructure
Deliver services that flatten the growth curve for human toil as the number of infrastructure devices increases using open source technologies
Influence Twitter’s hardware roadmap to drive efficiencies
Build rack lifecycle automation
Contribute to build vs. buy decisions
Qualifications
Who You Are:
10+ years of management experience managing a team of 50+ engineers
8+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience
Ability to establish strong partnerships and communicate with transparency and clarity
Experience driving change across a large organization
Leads by example; is hands-on and has a passionate drive for success
Has the technical skills necessary to partner with tech leads
Sets clear expectations and creates a positive work environment based on accountability and ownership
Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Works well under pressure and is able to shift priorities as needed
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience required
Passion for user experience and technical efficiency
