Who We Are: 

The Core Auth Systems team supports the high-scale services which authenticate and authorize customer requests to Twitter’s services. The team owns both the continued scaling and stability of these critical services, as well as the future of the auth infrastructure at Twitter. The team works closely with teams across Twitter’s Auth, InfoSec, and Platform groups to build a high-performance system to keep Twitter’s users safe and secure.

What You’ll Do:

We look for someone who can lead teams of diverse, smart, distributed (across multiple geos), and driven engineers. We need leaders who take active roles in shaping the future of Twitter engineering while embodying our core values. A successful engineering manager will:

 

  • Support a diverse team of talented engineers in building high-scale systems

  • Build a cohesive, high-functioning team that thrives in a culture of trust, respect, and inclusion

  • Have the technical capacity to partner with tech leads, and to be comfortable leading a team through complex technical challenges

  • Take ownership for the group’s short-term and long-term strategy

  • Define the team's roadmap, success metrics, and priorities in close collaboration with other engineering teams and multi-functional partners

  • Work closely with the Twitter recruiting team to hire high-potential candidates from a diverse group of backgrounds.

  • Support the career development of every engineer on your team

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years in engineering management

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ideally, you have experience with:

    • Setting and measuring strategic goals

    • Defining a long-term strategic roadmap

    • Leading a geographically distributed engineering team

  • Experience developing and operating large scale, secure and performant distributed systems

  • Experience building and driving an inclusive and growth-focused culture, with a focus on diverse hiring and supporting the career growth of a diverse team
