Job Description

Who we are

The Social team is part of Global Consumer Marketing at Twitter. We are Twitter’s voice in the public conversation. Our mission is to celebrate and elevate the best of what’s happening.

We also start, join, and amplify conversations to help show people the best of what’s on Twitter. We work closely with stakeholders such as Comms, Partners, Product, and executive leadership to help generate positive conversation, usage, and education of Twitter.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for all things surrounding the conversation around new and/or existing Products on Twitter, from launching new features, sustaining launches, writing copy that matches feature messaging, and Community Management to monitoring conversations, news, and trends for sentiment analysis and post launch planning.

You will be great at finding incredible Tweets that you can reply to or engage with every day that relate to relevant Products. You have a knack for seeing these Tweets before they become viral, and sourcing the best Tweets from the depths of Twitter, because you’re on the pulse of culture across a wide range of conversations.

You have your finger on the pulse of the conversation surrounding key Twitter Product landscape, always with an eye on the conversation to know how people are thinking, feeling, and talking about Twitter Products.

You will be asked on occasion to attend shoots, events, and activations — either to Live Tweet or to help with content capture or interviewing. So travel is part of the role. The Conversation Lead is a publishing role, so while the office hours are the standard 9-5, occasionally you will be needed out of these hours.

In addition to your daily job as Tweet writer and community manager, you will also need to be a great cross-functional partner, able to work with a variety of teams and stakeholders on a range of projects, including editorial activations and larger cross-functional campaigns. You know the tricks to Advanced Search, and can source the best Tweets to match narratives and messaging to be featured cross platform.

You must also have the ability to absorb, digest, interpret, and action against feedback from cross-functional partners, and a willingness to learn every detail and nuance of a new feature and/or product so that you can accurately write Tweets and real-time replies. Awareness of consumer behavior and on platform sentiment is important in crafting copy for new features to anticipate reception.

You are obsessed with Social Media and how to build a community and how content travels on the platform. You know what it takes to have a strong Social voice, and you practice what you preach. Your grammar, spelling, and punctuation is impeccable, but you always double and triple check yourself. You are on the pulse of what’s new and what’s next. And because you’ll be Tweeting from brand accounts you must be beyond trustworthy, organized, detail oriented, and responsible.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong social skills. Ability to communicate thoughtfully, expertly, and engagingly across platforms

  • A track record for developing insightful, interesting content

  • Impeccable writing and editing skills and a passion for storytelling

  • Ability to think on your feet: being able to respond to events quickly

  • Attention to detail

  • The drive to see projects through from planning and concept development to execution and analysis

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • A creative thinker who loves to brainstorm big, out of the ordinary ideas

Responsibilities will include:

  • Concept & write daily Tweets for upcoming & existing Twitter Products for main Twitter Owned & Operated handles as well as promoted Tweet campaigns

    • This includes replies and community management

  • Find relevant Tweets to respond to throughout the day

  • Source Tweets for launch assets

  • Review briefs from XFN stakeholders to strategize around product features

  • Regular XFN alignment and touch bases to stay connected on updates around editorial, partners, and product

  • Monthly and weekly content calendars with brainstorms internally and external XFNs

  • Align Tweet copy within Social, Product Marketing, Comms, and other XFN stakeholders

  • Stay on top of social trends, memes and language, surfacing trends to share with the wider team through Twitter and CMS

  • Escalate any issues on the account as you see them and refer them to relevant parts of the company - e.g. Tweets from journalists, urgent customer questions, potential news stories

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 years experience in community management, having run social presences for a brand

  • Razor sharp editing skills: Can digest the Twitter voice and apply to all content

  • Preference for a fast-paced and dynamic environment; track record working across complex cross-functional team

  • Resourcefulness, attention to detail, and comfort offering solutions and clarity where there is ambiguity

  • Proficiency crafting creative and original Tweets that communicate complex concepts simply

  • Outstanding communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills; team-first mentality

  • Passion for Twitter and knowledge of how the service works and how marketers use it

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Knowledge and passion for Twitter and the diverse culture influencing and surrounding Twitter culture
