  • Full-time

Company Description

Twitter is a world-wide communications platform that is changing how people interact and communicate at home and at work. Public policy issues posed by the continuing spread of digital technology and web-based communications services now arise in regulatory bodies and legislatures.

Job Description

As a Twitter Public Policy Strategy Program Manager, you will lead critical partnerships and programs around the world, working with partners to deliver on our priorities. In particular, in 2021 Twitter will assume the Chair role of the Global Internet Forum on Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) and this role will provide critical support to Twitter’s work as Chair.

We are looking for an individual to provide leadership and management for some of our most critical programs and to collaborate with our distributed team to drive their success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Twitter’s day to day engagement with GIFCT staff to support the functioning of the Operating Board
  • Support Twitter’s ability to respond to major global events and lead relevant cross functional groups
  • Lead a number of key policy strategy and development initiatives internally and externally
  • Contribute to important cross-team meetings at HQ on issues of relevance to public policy;

  • Travel, where necessary, to support Public Policy colleagues in the markets they serve;
  • Represent Twitter at high tech industry gatherings and coalition meetings, speak publicly on policy panels at events and conventions;

Success in this role looks like this: While you may have started your Twitter experience learning additional technology policies of importance to Twitter and our users, you will have significantly enhanced your understanding and mastered many elements of such issues. You will be familiar with the regulatory and political challenges the company faces, as well as broader industry trends in self-regulation. You will have a proven ability to run complex processes and projects, including internal and external partners, and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

We engage with the debates around product and policy issues in civil society and academia, and you will relish the opportunity to engage on complex topics and collaborating with colleagues and peers to tackle them. In doing so, you will have proven personal initiative, comprehension, judgment, fortitude, and the ability to think tactically and strategically.

As we take on the role of Chair of GIFCT, an awareness and engagement with issues relating to terrorist content online and the work of industry to combat it, including GIFCT's work, would be valuable.
